I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s in NE, Washington, DC during the height of the war on drugs. From the very beginning, it seemed the deck was stacked against me. My parents were alcoholics and my older siblings were strung out on drugs.
I didn’t think my life could get any worse, but it did. When I was eight years old, I was raped by an older male relative. When I told my mom the next day, she told me to clean myself up and not to say a word to my father. I believed then that my voice had no power.
As the abuse continued over the next four years, I suffered in silence. Behind closed doors, my trauma grew from hurt to anger to physical aggression. When silence could no longer protect me, I learned another coping mechanism: fighting. Soon, it became an addiction. Fighting was the only thing that numbed the pain.

Kevin Led sex trafficking investigations for international justice mission all over the globe. He has worked under cover and trained sex traffickers investigators in the United States and in Asia, Latin America, and In Europe.
